Can you have a loft extension?

The answer is almost certainly yes! To make it even easier we offer a no cost feasibility study on whether you can get a loft without planning permission. As loft conversion specialists we are in an ideal position to advise you.

Full architectural and planning advice

Our architect will work with you to get the best possible design to maximise your available loft space. We can obtain drawings, calculations and all building controls that may be needed for your project. You work with one person rather than having to deal with several separate organisations saving you time and hassle.

Often, simple loft conversions can be accomplished without applying for planning permission. If you do need planning permission for your loft conversion, the process needn’t be troubling or overwhelming.  Nor does it need to be that expensive either.

Schedule the work

We work with you to schedule the project to suit your needs. A typical loft will take about 6 weeks to complete with little  disruption to you as most of the work is carried out from a scaffold from the outside.

Doing the work

We treat you and your property with respect working as efficiently as possible. A working day typically starts at 8am and finishes at 4pm and we complete each job before we start another project so you can expect to see us on site everyday.

Finishing the job

We will not leave your home until you are fully satisfied with the works. We pride ourselves on leaving your home in a clean and tidy manner.

Do you need permission?

Normally you do not need planning permission for a loft conversion and it can include a dormer – unless:

  • the newly converted space is over 50m³ (40m³ for a terraced home);
  • the dormer is beyond the plane of the existing roof slope on the front elevation;
  • you live in a specially designated area such as a Conservation Area or your home is listed;
  • the dormer will be within 20cm of the eaves.

Let us help you through the maze. We offer a no cost feasibility study on whether you can get a loft without planning permission.
